The NECA-IBEW Electrical Training Center is the premier electricial training organization for the overall Portland Metropolitan / Vancouver area.
All electrical installations are required by law to meet the standards of the National Electrical Code (which is published by the NFPA) and the codes of the local jurisdiction. The states of Oregon and Washington also require that electrical installations be performed by a licensed electrician.
All electricians must have a Journeyman's License issued by the state that they are working in. The Journeymans Electrician license is issued to those who have passed the State Electrician's Exam.
The state will allow people to take the exam only if they meet the requirements for the electricians Journeymans license. These requirements will include:
Anyone who wishes to become an electrician must qualify to be eligible to take the State Electrician's Exam.
The first step to becoming a Journeyman Electrician is to apply at the NIETC office. We accept hundreds of applicants each year to be a part of the electrical construction industry. The NIETC is registered with the states of Oregon and Washington to train electrical apprentices to be eligible for the State Exam and become skilled Journeyman Electricians.
