Commitment to Safety Training


Safety is a subject that we don't think enough about. As you begin your career as an apprentice in the electrical construction industry, it is of paramount importance that you understand the need for developing safe working practices.


Safety Director - Barry Moreland


The Safety Director is NECA-IBEW Electrical Training Trust's representative in all safety activities. The Director is responsible for providing related classroom instruction in:
◦ First Aid/CPR
◦ Electrical Safety
◦ OSHA Requirements
◦ NJATC 10/30 Hour Safety Programs

In addition, the Safety Director is helping our electrical industry by:
◦ Assisting employers with job site safety assessments
◦ Personal inspection of job sites
◦ Advising employers of unsafe working conditions and practices
◦ Assisting with accident investigations
◦ Keep employers and employees abreast of current federal, state and local safety laws and rules

Our apprenticeship programs include in-depth safety training and preparation for the electrical construction jobsites. The list of safety training covers everything from mechanical equipment training to personal awareness preparation.

Journeymen may also enroll in continuing education courses designed specifically for:
OSHA 10 Hour Electrical Safety
◦ Energized Electrical Work Safety Training
◦ First Aid / CPR American Red Cross license & renewal

As a service to our local community, all our safety classes are open to outside participants for a nominal fee. Please see continuing education details for class scheduling information. In some cases it may be possible to service the employer(s) with on the job local training. To find out more about our safety education please contact the Safety Director for further instructions
